ARE YOU GOING TO WATCH UKMCL SEASON 2017 OR IPL?

 Number of people playing cricket in England and Wales has plummeted, ECB survey shows however number of new clubs & players joining ‘United Kingdom Malayalee cricket League (UKMCL)’ increases year after year.   

 

 

The England and Wales Cricket Board has been surprised by results from its own commissioned survey which received 37,500 responses from cricket players around the country and revealed the number of people playing the sport has dropped from 908,000 in 2013 to 844,000 in 2015.

The number of matches conceded because one team could not string together 11 players stood at five per cent and more than two fifths of southern Asians were dissatisfied with the playing options on offer.

UKMCL which was setup in 2004 by various Malayalee organisations to cater for the needs of the growing number of Malayalee Cricket teams in the UK has now grown in to the biggest and oldest Malayalee cricket league outside Kerala, India.  

With new teams and players joining the league for the 2016 season, it promises to be an exciting and exhilarating season ahead. All teams have been preparing hard in the winter for the 2016 season with only one goal in mind, which is to be the UKMCL of ‘League Champions’.

With the league’s standard rising year on year players from all teams have been keen to showcase their ability to achieve the highest accolade for their clubs.

In addition to achieving glory for their respective clubs players will compete among themselves to receive personal accolades by winning the league’s ‘Best batsman’, ‘Best Bowler’ and ‘Best All-rounder’ titles. These titles are highly regarded among players.

The true love and passion to play and promote quality cricket in the Malayalee Community led malayalee’s to form United Kingdom Malayalee Cricket League (UKMCL) in 2004, an independent body who actively manage the needs of the growing number of Malayalee Cricket teams in the United Kingdom. To unify the entire Malayalee community Cricket UKMCL introduced the much awaited annul League format. It is the Collective effort of the Eastham, Croydon and Kent based Malayalee Cricket clubs and various Malayalee community groups in UK. UKMCL is the First exclusive Malayalee cricket League in Europe and the World's biggest Malayalee cricket League outside the Indian state of Kerala. UKMCL is a major platform for like-minded Malayalees to meet and share their common interests and has attracted unprecedented interest among both young British-born Malayalees and those who recently migrated to the UK as well as the vast number of students from Kerala.
