FRIENDS11 breaks into top of the UKMCL after a 10 wicket win against KCWA

FRIENDS11 breaks into top of the UKMCL after a comprehensive win against KCWA on Sunday 12th Jun 16 at John Ruskin.

A typically flamboyant 73* (46) from Jayaram Jayaraj and an exuberent 4 wicket haul by Anand Sajeevan set up the Friends 11 for its second victory over KCWA in this season.

The uncertainity of the weather created lot of drama and the match was started at 1400 hrs by reducing the overs into 25. KCWA won the toss and decided to bat first, F11 was not disappointed in losing the toss as we were so desperate to bowl first on the wet and dampy ground as the outfield was realy slow and pitch had uneven bounce.

The bowlers of F11 utilised the conditions of the pitch and created lot of pressure for the KCWA’s batsmen. Once again Anand Sajeevan proved that he is the spear head of the bowling attack of F11. He bowled with lot of aggression and guile and hauled 4 wickets from five overs including two maiden overs and just compromised 11 runs from it.  Ashish Joseph who scored 36 was the top scorer for KCWA and at the end of the innings they put 106 for 9 on board.

Jayaram the player of the match, struck eight fours and four sixes in his 46-ball innings as the F11 successfully chased down KCWA’s 106 for 9 (25 overs) for a ten-wicket victory in the seventh match of the UKMCL under the clouds. F11 finished on 109 for no loss with 46 deliveries to spare.

Jayaram Jayaraj and Sumith Surendran (30*) built a partnership of 103 runs which made the chase ebullient. Both of them were aware about the changing weather conditions and they wanted to finish the match before the next rain. At 18.4th over Jayaram finished the game in style by hitting a four through the fineleg and lead F11 to its 6th win out of the 7 matches.

UKMCL 2016 has completed 50% of its fixtures and Friends 11 secured its position at the top of the league with 128 points. All team members are working hard realising the fact that, tough opponents are yet to come. F11 will take on Griffins in the 8th  match set of the tournament on Sunday the 19th of June.
